The Africa Business and Entrepreneurship Research Society, Inc. (ABERS) is an international and interdisciplinary network of scholars, business professionals, government officials, and members of international organizations and funding agencies. Our organization is dedicated to the understanding
and advancement of business and entrepreneurship in Africa, in a broad and inclusive sense. Researchers and practitioners from Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America, and North America come together in annual conferences using French and English as their languages of
communication.
The Society promotes academic and professional research and publications on issues related tobusiness and entrepreneurship in Africa through its Africa Business Conferences and through the Journal of Africa Business and Entrepreneurship Research (JABER). ABERS works with sister organizations and has developed partnerships resulting in articles and special issues with the Transnational Corporations Review (TNCR), the Journal of Comparative International Management, and the Journal of Developmental Entrepreneurship. ABERS members contribute to the Working Paper Series of the Afreximbank and to other media with partner organizations.

Africa has always been in the news for bad things, conflict, poverty, natural disasters and diseases. All these have been attributed to inability for Africa to develop and consequently address its own problems. In recent years, this has been changing. There has been a feeling that it is time for Africa to grow and transform. This is coming after the emergence of China and India in the last 20 to 30 years as economic giants.
